Joni Lamb Dies at 65: Daystar TV Co-Founder Passes Away After Private Health Battle

With heavy hearts, we share the news that Joni Lamb graduated to Heaven this morning. We know that she is in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward
Joni Lamb, the beloved President and co-founder of Daystar Television Network, has passed away at the age of 65. The ministry confirmed the heartbreaking news, stating that Joni had “gone home to be with the Lord.”

    What Happened?

According to Daystar’s official statement, Joni had been privately battling a serious health condition for some time. Her situation took a turn for the worse after she sustained a back injury. The ministry revealed: “The back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone anticipated. Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days.”
Joni died on May 7, 2026, at her home in Bedford, Texas.

    Who Was Joni Lamb?

Born Joni Trammell in Greenville, South Carolina, she met her first husband, Marcus Lamb, at her home church where he was a visiting preacher. The couple married in 1982 and spent years traveling as evangelists before settling in Montgomery, Alabama in 1984, where they launched their first TV ministry.
By 1998, they had raised the funds to launch Daystar Television Network  which grew into one of the largest Christian broadcasting networks in the world. Joni hosted her own daily program, Joni Table Talk, which won the Best Television Talk Show award from the National Religious Broadcasters in 2004.

    Her Family

Joni was married for 39 years to Marcus Lamb, who passed away in 2021 from complications of COVID-19. She later remarried in June 2023 to Dr. Doug Weiss, a television co-host and psychologist.
She is survived by her husband Doug Weiss, and her three children  Jonathan, Rachel, and Rebecca  along with their families.

    The Ministry Will Continue

Daystar confirmed that the network will press forward, saying: “We will keep broadcasting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation, alongside you.” Joni had already worked out a succession plan with her board before her passing.
Paula White-Cain, a close friend, paid tribute on social media, calling Joni “a General for the kingdom, a pioneer, a worldwide evangelist.”
The Lamb family has asked for prayers and privacy during this difficult time.
