Pastor and author Sarah Jakes Roberts has left fans shaken after revealing a frightening accident that nearly left her paralyzed.
In a candid Facebook post, the faith leader shared that while playing on a trampoline with her daughter Ella, things took a dangerous turn. “I was playing a game with my Ella on the trampoline and landed on my neck. Instantly, I heard several pops in my neck,” she wrote.
Ella immediately called her father, who dialed 911. After visits to two hospitals and several scans, doctors confirmed Sarah had fractured her neck, suffered herniated discs, and had areas of her spine that could have resulted in permanent paralysis.
The outcome, however, could have been far worse. As Sarah put it, “One disc up or one disc lower, and this would’ve been a different testimony.”
She will now wear a neck brace for 4 to 6 weeks to keep her spine stable and prevent further damage, and has said she plans to rest and recover while leaning on her faith and loved ones.
Ever the birthday girl, she closed her post with grace and humor, assuring fans that even with a neck brace, she is “still the birthday” and judging by that hospital photo with the sunglasses and peace sign, we believe her.
