The First Person To Preach The Resurrection Wasn’t Who You Think

Easter Celebration Message (Inspired by John 20:1–20)

Before the sun rose… before the world fully awakened… Mary showed up.
She came while it was still dark (John 20:1).
Not because everything made sense but because love showed up anyway.
And what she found changed everything.
    The stone was rolled away.
    The grave was empty.
    Death had been defeated.
In that moment, heaven announced what earth could not yet understand
     Jesus is alive.
Mary, the one who came in the dark, became the first to carry the light.
She was entrusted with the greatest news ever told to go and declare that the Savior had risen.
That is why she is often called the apostle to the apostles because God chose a heart full of love and devotion to carry a message full of power and life.
And this is the beauty of Easter:
Jesus paid the price for our sins through His death
He cleansed us and gave us a new beginning
His resurrection gave us hope that never dies

When Jesus stepped into that room and said, “Peace be with you” (John 20:19), it wasn’t just for the disciples—it was for all of us.

     Peace after guilt
     Hope after brokenness
Life after every form of death
So today, we don’t mourn we celebrate.
    We celebrate a risen King.
    We celebrate a finished work.
We celebrate a love so powerful that it showed up in the darkest hour and brought light.

Because He lives, we are forgiven.

Because He lives, we have hope.

Because He lives, our story is not over.

Happy Easter! He is risen indeed!
