Stefanie Rouse was born to her parents in Pennsylvania.

She grew up in a very religious catholic home with a lot of rules and regulations. One thing she did was fear God but it was because of the wrong idea she had about him. She recalls the tradition where if you wore a necklace blessed by the priest and died overnight you would only go to purgatory instead of hell.  Stefanie always experienced panic attacks around it.  She knows now that it wasn’t a personal relationship with the living, true, loving God.

Stefanie Rouse got a BSc. degree in education from Penn State University, then went on to receive a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. Stefanie also have a Masters is in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary with a focus in Theology.

Stefanie is married to her loving husband Caleb Rouse. The couple has been together for over 9 years. Her husband, Caleb Rouse said it was “love at first sight” for him. Yet it took about a year from their first introduction for the timing to be right for them to go on their first date.

Stefanie and Caleb Rouse said they felt so comfortable with each other when they were dating that they could be fully themselves. They had freedom to show up and be completely themselves, which they describe as being a gift.  They felt God’s presence in their relationship, which led to their marriage.

Stefanie said,  “There was no striving, no putting on a facade. I had already made the decision that I would not change any part of myself to be with someone that made me feel like I couldn’t be who God created me to be.”

She had dated others before, even Christian guys who were great guys but she didn’t feel she could be herself around them. “It only takes one. If you don’t have peace in your heart, it’s not God’s best.”

In Stefanie’s high school there was this tradition that she was invited to a bible study. According to Stefanie, the woman who invited her was special; she was “so different than anyone she had ever met”.  Stefanie shares that all of the people coming to the study were people you’d never imagine being at a bible study.  The woman was like a mom to this group.

Stefanie suffered through a really abusive relationship and felt very oppressed. However, her mother in the faith encouraged her to leave the relationship. Few Months later, Stefanie’s mentor was diagnosed with a brain tumor, She prayed to God for her healing and thought God would for sure heal her yet she died of that brain tumor.

The death of her mentor really affected her relationship with God. She turned from God out of anger and drifted far away from him in her twenties. Stefanie reveals that at that point in her life, she was suicidal even though everyone thought she was having the time of her life.

Fortunately, a friend of hers had suggested to her to surrender it all to Jesus. Why don’t you go all-in with Jesus? You’ve been doing this half in, half out thing but what if you try to go all in?”

She took the advice and that was when Jesus captured her soul. Jesus transformed her life in real ways. She knew how much she needed Him every day, seeing the ugliness in her and this world.

Stefanie Rouse founded a mentorship class called Cultivate Your Dream Relationship. It is a Marriage and Family Therapy program she had started before she got married, during her single days, after she came out of a relationship. She started dating a guy. They both got engaged and were preparing to get married. However, he suddenly broke up with her with no explanation. It was in this moment where everything was ripped from under her — future plans, friends, everything she cared about. God became her Rock in that moment.  She realized, “God, even if it’s just You and me forever, that’s okay.”

Stefanie realized there was a blockage between the pain in our lives and the receiving of God’s love. We never learn healthy communication, setting up healthy boundaries, recognizing red flags, and she wanted to learn all this from a theological perspective. She needed this not only for future clients but for her own heart.
