Dr. Cosby got into active involvement with church activities and worsk at his very young age. He was ordained into the Christian minsitry and granted the licence to preach by Reverend Dr. L.K. Curry who is a Pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois,
Currently, Dr. Marcus is the senior pastor of Wheeler Baptist Church. He has lectured and preached a conferences, conventions, retreats, revivals and on the university and seminary campuses.

Dr. Marcus Cosby received his elementary education at the Emmanuel Christian School and secondary education at Whitney M .Young Magnet High School.
He graduated from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and English. He also also has a Master of Divinity in Homiletics and Christian Education from the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Georgia. A Doctor of Ministry in Homiletics from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois.

Rev. Dr. Cosby is hapily married to Mrs. Audrey Marie Cosby. Their marriage is blessed with three beautiful daughters, Adrienne Marie, Ashley Marie and Aliyah Marie and two sons, Marcus D., II and Matthew D. Cosby.
Ministry
Rev. Marcus Cosby currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Having served at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas since 1998, he was appointed a successor to the founding pastor Rev. Lawson in 2004.
Today, the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church have four Sunday worship services, and more than 15,000 members. The church founded the Wheeler Avenue Christian Academy, which serves kids from pre-kindergarten through second grade.
In Houston’s Third Ward, Rev. Dr. Cosby also created a transitional housing center for single homeless moms. He has also developed a missional outreach in several South African villages and has love for positively influencing the lives of the abandoned and forgotten wherever they may be found.
Dr. Cosby Career
Dr. Cosby is a trustee on the board of his alma mater, Fisk University, where he chairs the committee for academic excellence and student engagement. He is also a member of the university’s general alumni association.
He has also served as a member of the advisory board for The Gardner C. Taylor Preaching Archives and Listening Room in Atlanta, Georgia, the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference, the Houston Area Urban League, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, the Texas Commission for Community Service and Volunteerism, and the African American Pulpit.
Rev. Dr. Cosby is an active member of the NAACP, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
He also works as an adjunct professor of homiletics at the Houston Graduate School of Theology and has previously taught the subject at the ITC’s Houston extension program in addition to teaching the more than 100 ministers who make up the Clergy Team of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.
Dr. Cosby was admitted in 2008 to Morehouse College’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers in Atlanta, Georgia. Also, he became the founder and CEO of Preaching with Power and Authority Ministries in 2013, a company dedicated to the teaching and promotion of contemporary, biblical preaching for the twenty-first century.
