What the Bible Says About Wars in the Last Days

One topic that frequently captures the attention of Christians is the Bible’s teaching about wars in the last days. Many believers wonder how current global conflicts fit into biblical prophecy.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus Christ warned that wars and rumors of wars would occur before the end times.

    Matthew 24:6 (NIV) says:

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.”
Jesus explained that conflicts between nations would continue as part of the signs of the times, but believers should not panic or lose faith.
Another important prophecy appears in the Book of Ezekiel, specifically Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. These chapters describe a future conflict often referred to as the War of Gog and Magog.
In Ezekiel 38:2–4, the prophet receives a message from God about a leader named Gog:
“Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog… I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army.”
Later in Ezekiel 38:16, God explains the purpose of this event:
You will come up against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land… I will bring you against my land so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.”
Many Bible scholars interpret this prophecy as describing a future coalition of nations that will come against Israel in the last days. Others believe the prophecy may be symbolic of spiritual conflict between good and evil.
Because interpretations vary, theologians often caution Christians against connecting every modern war directly to these passages.
The central message of these scriptures is not fear but readiness. Jesus encouraged believers to remain watchful, faithful, and spiritually prepared rather than becoming anxious about world events.
Even in times of global uncertainty, the Bible reminds us that God remains sovereign over history.
