    Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace on this beautiful Sunday morning, July 23, 2023, with hearts filled with gratitude and awe for Your boundless love and mercy. As we gather in Your name, we invite Your presence to fill this place and our hearts, guiding us through this time of prayer and worship.

    Praise and Thanksgiving

Lord, we lift our voices in praise, acknowledging You as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You are the Creator of all things, and we marvel at the beauty of Your creation around us. We thank You for the gift of life, for each breath we take, and for the privilege of being called Your children.

    Confession

Gracious God, we recognize that we are not perfect and have fallen short of Your glory. We humbly confess our sins and shortcomings, asking for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Forgive us for times when we have neglected Your commands, failed to love one another, and allowed pride and selfishness to take root in our hearts. Wash us clean, O Lord, and create in us a clean heart and a right spirit.

    Prayer for Renewal

Heavenly Father, as we seek Your presence, we ask for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon us. Renew our minds, renew our strength, and renew our faith. Help us to walk in Your ways and be transformed into the likeness of Your Son, Jesus Christ. May the light of Your truth shine through us, guiding us to make a positive impact on the world around us.

[Intercession for the World] On this day, we lift up the world before You. We pray for peace in regions torn by conflict and violence. Bring healing to the broken-hearted, comfort to those who mourn, and strength to those facing persecution and hardships. Lord, we ask for Your divine intervention in situations that seem impossible, knowing that nothing is beyond Your reach.

    Prayer for the Church

Bless Your Church, O Lord, with unity, wisdom, and love. Strengthen the bonds of fellowship among believers, that we may be a shining beacon of hope and compassion in our communities. Equip Your servants with the gifts and resources they need to carry out Your work and fulfill the Great Commission. May we be salt and light, reflecting Your love to a world in need.

    Prayer for Leaders

We pray for those in positions of leadership—both in the church and in the world. Grant them wisdom, discernment, and compassion as they make decisions that impact the lives of many. May they seek Your guidance and align their hearts with Your will.

    Closing prayer

Heavenly Father, as we conclude this prayer, we surrender our lives to You anew. May Your will be done in and through us today and always. May our thoughts, words, and actions honor You and bring glory to Your name.

In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Bible Reading and Message For Today July 23 2023#

    Psalm 121 (New International Version)

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Message: In Psalm 121, we are reminded that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He is our faithful protector and keeper, who never slumbers nor sleeps. As we face the mountains and challenges in our lives, we can trust that the Lord is watching over us, ensuring our safety and well-being. He is our shade in the scorching heat and the one who guards us through the darkest of nights. This Psalm reassures us that the Lord is constantly vigilant, guarding our lives and guiding our steps. So, let us find comfort in knowing that we are not alone in our journey; the Lord is with us every step of the way.

     Colossians 3:12-17 (New Living Translation)

12 Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Message: In this passage from Colossians, we are encouraged to live as holy people, chosen and loved by God. As followers of Christ, we are called to embody virtues such as mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Forgiveness and love should be the defining characteristics of our interactions with one another, just as the Lord has forgiven us. Unity and peace within the body of Christ are paramount, and we are to be grateful for the peace that comes from Christ ruling in our hearts.

Moreover, we are reminded to let the message of Christ’s richness fill our lives. We should share this message with one another, teaching and counseling with the wisdom given by God. Let our hearts overflow with thankfulness as we express our worship through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. In all that we do and say, may we be representatives of the Lord Jesus, shining His light and love to the world around us.
