Pastor Joel Osteen Daily Devotional October 8 2023.

The theme for today’s Pastor Joel Osteen Daily Devotional October 8 2023 is ”Live in the Present“

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 50:20, NIV You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

It’s so easy to always be focused on the destination, the dream coming to pass, the problem turning around. You have to learn to enjoy where you are while you’re on the way to where you’re going. Life is not about the destination; it’s about the journey. That’s where you’ll grow. That’s where you’ll see fulfillment and the favor of God.

We have to remember that after we reach a goal, there will be another goal. There’ll be another challenge. If we’re not careful, we’ll rush through the day trying to get to the destination. Slow down and enjoy the journey. Yes, there will be bumps in the road, disappointments, things you don’t understand. That’s when you have to say, “I’m not looking back. I’m not getting bitter and letting that sour my life. I’m not going to live worried, wondering how it’s going to work out. I’m going to stay in the present. I’m going to enjoy where God has me right now, knowing that He will get me to where I’m supposed to be.” It takes maturity to enjoy where you are, even though you have challenges and things you don’t understand.

In Genesis 41, thirteen years after Joseph was thrown into the pit, he was made prime minister of Egypt. He saw vindication, promotion, and influence greater than he’d ever imagined. What a shame if Joseph had spent those past years discouraged, worried, and frustrated. What God promised you is going to come to pass. The dream He put in your heart is already on the schedule. The question is, how are you spending the time while you’re waiting? Are you looking back with regret? Are you looking forward, wondering why it’s not happening? No, stay in the present. Take it one day at a time. You don’t have grace for tomorrow. If you’re trying to figure out the past twenty years or the next twenty years, you’re going to be frustrated. You have grace for this day. When you get to tomorrow, there will be grace for that day.

    Prayer for Today

Dear God, Thank you for this amazing day You’ve given me. I’m grateful for everything I have right now. Please help me to focus on what’s happening today and not worry about the past or the future. I want to be fully present with my family and not be distracted by other things. Please show me how to balance my goals and dreams with appreciating the things I already have. I don’t want to take anything or anyone for granted. Help me to enjoy my life and to be happy with what I have. I trust that You will guide me and take care of everything. I give You all my worries and fears. Thank You for always being there for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
