THEME: How To Find The Will Of God (II)

SCRIPTURE: “I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” – John 5:30b

An important condition for finding fulfilment in life is to submit your will to God. Yesterday, we learnt that Jesus did this and we should imitate Him.

The Lord said, “I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” (John 5:30b) and “I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me” (John 6:38). Hence, the first step you should take to imitate Jesus in this regard is to seek God’s will, and not your own. You should commit your way to the Lord and trust in Him (Psalm 37:5), pray to God that He should teach you His will (Psalm 143:10), acknowledge him in all your ways (Proverbs 3:6) and pray that you might be filled with the knowledge of His will (Colossians 1:9).

The second step is that you must sincerely desire to do God’s will. You should heed the counsel of Apostle Paul that believers should do the will of God from the heart (Ephesians 6:6). You should, like the Psalmist, delight to do the will of God (Psalm 40:8) and declare with faith like Jesus, “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10) and “My meat is to do the will of God that sent me” (John 4:34). All these show that finding and doing God’s will require determination and commitment.

The third step you must take to find and do God’s will is the step of obedience. In your daily walk with God, as you obey Him, He will reveal His will to you. Romans 12:1-2 underscores this point, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

Beloved, as you resolve to obey God always, you will find His will as well as the grace to do it continuously. You may not be able to do this in your power. So advise you to always turn to the Holy Spirit for grace and help.

    PRAYER POINTS:

    MORNING

    1. Father, teach me Your will, in the name of Jesus.
    2. O God, give me the grace to sincerely desire Your will and do it from my heart, in the name of Jesus.
    3. I renew my mind with the word of God and receive access to His will, in the name of Jesus.

    EVENING

    1. Father, help me to stay in Your will, no matter what the enemy does, in the name of Jesus.
    2. Powers assigned to hinder me from finding and doing God’s will, die, in the name of Jesus.
    3. Powers assigned to dislocate and relocate me from the will of God, die, in the name of Jesus.
    4. My Father, flood my life with the light of Your revelations, in the name of Jesus.
